It’s a Christmas tradition in the royal family to make a public walk to the Church of St. Mary Magdalene on Queen Elizabeth’s Sandringham estate, and this year it looks like there will be two new stars of the show: six-year-old Prince George and four-year-old Princess Charlotte.

An insider dished to People magazine that the young royals will make their Christmas walk debut this year alongside their parents Prince William and Kate Middleton, if everything goes according to plan.

Prince Louis, 20 months, will probably not join the rest of his family, as he is still a little too young to take part in the tradition. He did, however, make his public debut at Trooping the Colour this past summer.

The source says that the plans could change, but at the moment it appears that Prince George and Princess Charlotte will be part of the walk. However, their uncle, aunt, and cousin – Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and Archie Harrison – will not be at Sandringham this year.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex previously announced that they will not be spending the holidays with the rest of the royal family like they did after they got engaged in 2017 and married in 2018. Instead, they will be spending the holidays with Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland.

“Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland,” said Buckingham Palace in a statement. “This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen.”

As for Prince George and Princess Charlotte, this is the first time they will be making the public walk with the rest of the royal family at Sandringham. But, in 2016, they siblings were spotted at a church service near Middleton’s childhood home in Bucklebury when William, Kate, and the kids spent the holiday with the Duchess’ family.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte are almost the same age as William and Harry were when they made their Sandringham debut. Prince William made the walk for the first time in 1987 at the age of five. And, Prince Harry made his debut in 1988 at the age of four.
