Peso Pluma is a Mexican singer, rapper, and songwriter. He is known for his collaborations “El Belicón,” “Siempre Pendientes,” “AMG,” “PRC,” and “Ella Baila Sola,” the latter with regional Mexican group Eslabon Armado. “Ella Baila Sola” was the first regional Mexican song to reach the top 10 of the Billboard 100. His music is characterized by corridos, with urban music, trap, and reggaeton elements. He is nicknamed “La Doble P.”

He is the son of Rubí Laija Díaz and Hassan Kabande Toledo. His Kabande name was originally Khawandeh, and the family was from Bethlehem, in the West Bank. His father is also described as having Lebanese ancestry. It is not clear if this is accurate. Peso’s mother’s family is from Badiraguato, Sinaloa. He was raised in Guadalajara, and also attended high school in San Antonio, Texas. His stage name means “featherweight,” referring to the boxing division.

Peso’s great-grandfather likely was Afif Kabande. Afif was the son of Bichara Demetrio Kabande/Khawandeh and María Elena Hanania. His half-brother owned hotels in Mexico.
